THE JOB AT A GLANCE
To ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant medical assessment of claims (COIDA, Life products, and pension-related benefits) while providing medical advisory support to internal teams. The role involves impairment evaluations, medical case management, stakeholder training, and travel to mobile clinics across the SADC region.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Claims Assessment & Medical Adjudication
- Conduct impairment assessments in compliance with the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA)
- Provide disability percentage ratings and detailed medical reports for claims adjudication
- Review and assess Life claims
Health & Case Management
- Offer medical and technical guidance to Claims, Case Management, and Pension teams
- Support managed healthcare for RMA claimants and pensioners, ensuring cost-effective and quality care.
Stakeholder Engagement & Training
- Serve as the medical liaison between internal teams, healthcare providers, and regulatory bodies
- Conduct training sessions for staff and external stakeholders on medical best practices, COIDA compliance, and claims submission
- Participate in special projects (e.g., policy reviews, health initiatives).
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure that all assessments comply with COIDA and other relevant legislation
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and objectivity in all medical decisions.
Travel & Mobile Clinic Oversight
- Travel to SADC-region mobile clinics for on-site occupational health evaluations.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE?
Qualifications:
- MBChB or equivalent medical degree
- Registered with HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa Certificate)
- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health (DOH).
Experience:
- 6 – 10 years’ experience as a Medical Practitioner
- 2 – 3 years’ experience as an Occupational Medical Practitioner
- Work experience as a Mining Medical Officer
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
