Job Title: Paint Quality Inspector

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Paint Quality Inspector to join our team. The main responsibilities of this role include inspecting the quality of paint jobs on our vehicles, identifying defects, and ensuring adherence to quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, hands-on experience with automotive painting, and a solid understanding of industry quality standards. The Paint Quality Inspector's role is to ensure that all vehicles meet the company’s high-quality paint standards before they are delivered to our customers.
The candidate will be expected to provide a proven track record of experience with contactable references at the automotive OEM level. Candidates who meet the criteria specified in this job specification will be considered for interview.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Inspecting vehicle paint application for colour matching, consistency, and overall quality. Using specialized tools such as spectrometers, gloss meters, and adhesion testers to assess the quality of paint in a startup and continuous OEM production environment.
· Work with the paintshop team to correct any paint defects or inconsistencies and contribute to the paint defect or sealer application root cause analysis investigation. Document inspection results by completing reports, summarizing rework and wastes, and inputting data into the quality control report.
· Understanding colour theory, paint mixing and body shop sealer application techniques to verify according to quality standards. Paint defect inspection, report preparation, countermeasure planning & implementation via inter-department discussions.
· Maintaining a clean and safe work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Evaluate existing processes and workflows to find areas for continuous improvement of quality inspection procedures.
· Advising on the repair or rework of defects found during the inspection. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and implementing quality control measures to maintain paint quality standards.
· Understand the vehicle paint quality audit process and be prepared to audit and present audit findings to management
· Able to lead a team and provide paint inspection training based on audit findings to support quality awareness and continuous improvement efforts
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Matric
· AMIC certificate (preferred)
· Minimum 3 years of automotive experience as an automotive paint inspector at OEM level
· Code 08 or higher driver's license with at least 2 years of driving experience
COMPETENCIES:
· Automotive Paint shop quality inspection.
· Automotive new model introduction paint quality stabilization.
· Paint quality defects root cause analysis & troubleshooting.
· Strategic Thinking and strong plan execution ability, and a problem-solving approach
· Knowledge of paint application techniques and quality standards
· Ability to identify paint defects and imperfections
· Ability to work independently or as part of a team
· Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving
· Data analysis and report writing
· Technical knowledge and Presentation skills
