An established, dynamic and well-developed FMCG brand that is a National Concern has an opportunity available for an experienced individual that specializes in Buying. You will fulfil the role of Buyer within their Midrand branch. The ideal candidate will be disciplined and presentable with a minimum of 3 – 4 years’ experience.
You will be responsible but not limited to:
Assist in the reporting for supplier management to be ongoing with strategic quarterly reviews done with larger suppliers
Weekly/Daily communication with suppliers with regards to rejections / complaints
Manage supply base– reports to be run and presented to category buyer
Accountable for product quality, availability and inbound service levels
Manage the product availability with suppliers during promotional periods
Accountable for achieving set growth targets
Weekly update meetings with Planning and Buying Teams
Accurate stock planning particularly relevant during promotional and peak periods
Identify potential suppliers and vendors through research and networking
Obtain and compare price quotations, terms, and quality of products/services
Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to secure favourable agreements
Place purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors
Monitor inventory levels and anticipate demand to prevent stockouts or overstock situations
Collaborate with inventory control and warehouse teams to optimize stock levels
Implement inventory management strategies to minimize costs and maximize efficiency
Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier agreements
Responsibilities will include the placement and strategic management of the product categories e.g. product buying, range building, trend research, market and competitor understanding
Education / Requirements:
Matric or Grade 12 Equivalent
Diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management / Procurement
Minimum 3 - 4 years’ experience in a FMCG environment
Previous experience in buying advantageous
Computer Literate: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Skills:
Strong communication skill, written and spoken (Afrikaans & English)
