JOB PURPOSE
Two vacancies exist within ARRB Systems SA for a Code EC (Code 14) Driver. The successful candidates will form part of a project team as heavy-duty licensed drivers of specialised assessment vehicles and will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy-duty vehicles, supporting field operations by preparing and maintaining vehicles, assisting with equipment calibrations, and ensuring compliance with company and road regulations. The role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and readiness to travel extensively, both locally and internationally when required. The successful candidates will report to the Westmead Office in Pinetown.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Prepare the assigned vehicle for trips, including pre-departure inspections and basic maintenance.
- Operate heavy-duty vehicles safely and in compliance with road rules and company policies.
- Assist with calibrating assigned surveying equipment.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness for the interior and exterior of the assigned vehicle.
- Take full responsibility for the assigned vehicle’s condition, safety, and documentation.
- Adapt to changing schedules, routes, and operational requirements.
- Adhere to all relevant company policies vehicle procedures, relevant laws and regulations.
- Complete and submit all required documentation, including timesheets and signing the daily register.
- Valid driving license and relevant permits must be kept current at all time
- Prepared to work weekends and public holidays.
- Willing to travel for 2–3 weeks at a time, staying overnight as operationally required
- Familiarization and utilization of company communication channels i.e. (Emails, MS Teams etc.).
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 Literacy level
- Valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s license and PDP
- Five years articulated driving experience
- Thorough understanding of the rules and regulations of the road.
- Medically fit
- Proven safe driving record and clean criminal record
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Defensive driving
- Must be able to handle an electronic gearbox
- Function and location of vehicle components
- Road Traffic Act (i.e. operating a vehicle)
- Driver actions regarding to weather/road/traffic conditions/emergencies
- Reporting procedure of emergencies, defects, mechanical issues or maintenance needs
- Vehicle inspections and operating a fire extinguisher
- Basic computer literacy will be advantageous
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Passport
- Available for international travel when required
