Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Exchange Control & Sanctions Monitoring Specialist to support our mission of maintaining robust compliance with Exchange Control and Sanctions regulations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity of our operations through effective monitoring, reporting, and governance.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Risk Management
- Develop and implement frameworks for monitoring Balance of Payments and Exchange Control activities.
- Conduct quarterly conformance testing and regular quality assurance reviews.
- Analyze transaction data to identify early warning signals and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in investigations and ensure stakeholder cooperation.
- Maintain and test Risk Management Plans and Risk Control Assessments.
Reporting & Analytics
- Design and implement a comprehensive reporting framework.
- Provide regular, insightful management information and trend analysis.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of reports to the SARB.
- Track and measure compliance levels across the Group.
Operational & Strategic Support
- Support training initiatives and review compliance materials.
- Update policies and procedures in line with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure new systems/processes meet compliance requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coach and guide teams on Exchange Control and Sanctions responsibilities.
- Represent Absa in regulatory engagements and industry forums.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: NQF Level 5 (3-year National Diploma/Higher Certificate); Banking Diploma preferred.

Experience:
- 5+ years in International Banking or Foreign Exchange
- 2+ years in Exchange Control and Sanctions screening
- 2+ years in operational risk or internal audit
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Exchange Control, Sanctions screening, and Audit practices
- Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate and mitigate risk
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Resilient under pressure and adaptable to change
- Strong interpersonal and networking abilities
Education
Higher Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
