Country Lane Lodge is 4* Country House situated in White River. Accommodation consists of 10 en-suite bedrooms and a 4 bed self catering house. Guests are generally foreign tourists, South African holiday makers visiting the Kruger Park and surrounds and Business travelers. This is a hands on role for a dynamic couple who enjoy hard work, homestead living and hospitality.
Remuneration: R 20 000 per month (gross) for the couple.
Couple will be require to live in a 1 bed bedroom cottage, en-suite with lounge, kitchen and sunroom on the property including free water, electricity and agreed meals.
Date: Must be available to start 1st October 2025.
Hours: Due to the nature of the hospitality industry hours cannot be defined exactly. The candidates are expected to work outside normal working hours when required as well as public holidays and weekends. Working as a couple will ensure a shared responsibility of tasks. There will be a relief manager every 10-12 weeks to ensure staff have a week off to rest.
Requirements:
- Pleasant characters who love hospitality and ensure ALL guests are taken care of.
- Must be South African citizens or have a permit to work in South Africa.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to the success of the “homestead”.
- Satisfied with being on a Macadamia farm outside of town.
- A couple who work well together and can share the cottage
- Able to prepare breakfast and dinner when guests request it
- Sober and non-smoker
- Professional, able to have a pleasant approach to guests but allow them privacy.
The successful candidates should preferably possess the following competencies:
· Have previous hospitality management experience in hotels, lodges or resorts
· Computer Literate familiar with systems such as Nightsbridge, MS Office
· Honest person/s with high sense of integrity
· Excellent organizational and administrative skills
· Hands on approach - essential
· Able to anticipate the guests needs and ensure they are always utmost priority
· Sense of ownership and pride in work
· Flexible attitude and willing to take on tasks as necessary
· Create a great atmosphere for Guests and Staff, with a great understanding of the hospitality industry
· This position may suit a retired couple, a couple without children or friends who work well together and can share accommodation.
Day to day running of the Country House:
- Take reservations via phone, email, booking agents and generate invoices
- Reply to enquiries and offer additional information when required by phone or email.
- Managing Nightsbridge booking platform
- Liaise with booking agents such as booking.com, LekkeSlaap or direct bookings via nightsbridge bookings.
- Ensure housekeeping has rooms cleaned adequately and in line with the 4* grading requirements.
- Manage DSTV connections in rooms if problems arise
- Participate in Tourism grading inspections
- Manage Housekeeping and ground staff to ensure lodge remains “picture perfect”.
- Meet and greet each guest/s during their stay.
- Prepare and serve breakfast daily and evening meals when required. Dinners are required to be pre-booked.
- Ensure stock is sufficient and order/buy stock when required
- Check out guests on departure day, generate invoices and process payments
- Do daily inspections ensuring standards remain high
- Report any negative feedback to the Owners for collective action and resolve
- Ensure animals on the farm are taken care of by the ground staff including chickens, ducks, birds and Koi fish.
Hand over with current manager will take place 1 to 15th October.
