Job Description
Headwear 24 is seeking a skilled and experienced Embroidery Supervisor to oversee our embroidery department in Newlands West. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading staff, managing embroidery operations, and ensuring production runs smoothly, efficiently, and in line with deadlines and quality standards. Only candidates with proven embroidery management experience will be considered.
Job Purpose
The Embroidery Supervisor is responsible for managing embroidery operations and staff to ensure production targets, quality standards, and customer deadlines are consistently met. This role requires hands-on technical knowledge of embroidery machinery, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive efficiency while maintaining a safe and disciplined workplace.
Key Duties
- Supervise embroidery operations, staff, and workflow on the production line.
- Ensure machines (ZSK and Tajima multi-heads) are correctly set up, maintained, and running optimally.
- Oversee thread tension, hooping, digitizing files, and troubleshooting of embroidery machines.
- Track and report daily production, monitor orders, and resolve production delays.
- Coordinate staffing, shift schedules, and training of embroidery operators.
- Maintain housekeeping standards, shop floor discipline, and adherence to SOPs.
- Manage inventory of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods through the M3 system.
- Assist with special projects, continuous improvement, and reducing machine downtime.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ proven experience supervising embroidery operations (5 years preferred).
- Hands-on proficiency with ZSK and Tajima multi-head embroidery machines.
- Strong knowledge of thread tension, hooping, digitizing (DST/EMB), and embroidery machine maintenance.
- Experience with Wilcom or other embroidery software (advantageous).
- Matric / NQF 4 qualification or equivalent; a post-matric qualification in Production Management is an advantage.
- Ability to lead teams, manage shifts, and ensure sustained productivity.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours or shifts as required.
