EMC Test Technician
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled EMC Technician to join our Engineering team, supporting the Reliability Engineer in delivering accurate EMC test reports and compliance documentation for European and Middle Eastern export requirements. This role is key in ensuring product compliance, problem resolution, and adherence to international standards.
You will collaborate with production, development teams, and external testing facilities to address EMC-related issues, conduct audits, and provide expert consultation on standards and qualification requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum: Diploma in Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
Preferred: Advanced Diploma in Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 3 years in EMC, environmental, or related formal product testing (5 years preferred, including exposure to HALT testing).
Technical Competencies
Basic RF knowledge.
Expertise in root cause failure analysis and remediation.
Strong understanding of EMC compliance and industry standards (European, NATO).
Ability to draft qualification plans and consult on compliance strategies.
Key Responsibilities
1. EMC Testing at Product Level
Schedule, coordinate, and perform EMC testing to commercial and MIL-STD specifications (e.g., MIL-STD 461, IEC61000 series).
Determine equipment requirements for new or revised test specifications.
Develop and implement processes to ensure compliance.
Support design engineers with technical recommendations to address environmental failures.
Coordinate external testing (including occasional local or international travel).
2. Consultation & Training
Advise internal teams on the applicability of EMC standards to GEW products.
Provide training to engineers on designing for compliance and qualification.
3. Certification & Documentation
Draft qualification and testing plans in line with legal, contractual, and company standards.
Prepare EMC reports for compliance packs.
Support engineering on component and material selection for EMC certification.
Manage and maintain test schedules to ensure timely completion of qualification work.
