Role summary
The Fabricator will be responsible for reading and interpreting technical drawings, welding, machining, and performing hands-on assembly work to produce precise, high-quality fixtures that meet engineering specifications. This position ensures that all fabrication work contributes to continuous improvement, increased efficiency, and the successful rollout of automated solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Independent management of Jigs Department.
- Assembling and welding of new jigs.
- Reading and understanding the blueprints and drawings prior to commencement to ensure accurate results.
- Support the Automation and Improvements department by manufacturing custom fixtures and equipment designed by engineers.
- Transforming designs into physical components.
- Collaboration with stores to collect correct material.
- Measure and cut parts where needed from specifications provided.
- Ensure that all jigs are cut and joined to precision for effortless installation.
- Meeting daily targets and ensuring that the production schedule is met.
- Ad-hoc duties as requested by Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 (Beneficial)
- Trade Tested in Welding (Ideal)
- Overhead Crane License (Training Available)
- Forklift License (Training Available)
