PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Operator operates a front end loader in order to clear areas of rock broken during drilling and blasting operations. The operator is expected to use the front end loader effectively and safely to ensure high productivity as well as to appreciate the machines maintenance and optimum working parameters.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent.
- Front End Loader Maintenance Modules is essential
- 1-3 years Front End Loader experience
COMPETENCIES:
- Ensures that front end loader is maintained according to set standards.
- Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.
- Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identifies any unexpected problems that could require higher level technical support and advises supervisor.
- Reports to Dispatch and/or Foreman when task complete.
- Accompanies Foreman when inspecting completed task.
- Ensures that regular inspections are carried out on the front-end loader to ensure operating worthiness.
- Applies recognised work and safety standards when executing tasks.
- Operates front end loader according to task standards.
- Moves front end loader according to heavy duty driving regulations.
- Conducts minor repairs and maintenance on plant.
- Compiles an accurate shift report.
- Identifies and recommends initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reducing operating costs within scope and assists with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives.
- Advise management on business improvements initiatives identified.
- Builds, supports and maintains healthy diverse internal and external relations and implement remedial actions where required.
- Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
- Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
