Scope to Perform
- Develop a 1- and 2-year fundraising strategy, informed by the needs of the organization, including fundraising goals, a plan for achieving those goals, and resources needed to meet the goals.
- Develop fundraising priorities and key performance indicators that focus the efforts of the fundraising team to meet the goals of the Fundraising Strategy. Ensure that top priority goals are realistic and have a high probability of being achieved.
- Rapidly evaluate, make recommendations, and adapt to new opportunities as they arise.
- Cultivate relationships with key individuals inside and outside of ROCKBlue including timely, high-quality reporting and communications. Oversee board communications as appropriate.
- Oversee, motivate, and hold accountable teams that contribute to the fundraising efforts including the fundraising team itself, the fundraising committee, the ROCKBlue president and founder, the marketing team, board members, and key advisors. Work with divisions such as Accounting and program teams to get input, approvals, and results as needed. Ensure that the fundraising team always has strong grant-writing capabilities.
- Oversee individual donor giving, including giving campaigns, corporate partners, matches, donor acknowledgments, and high-quality, timely donor communications.
- Ensure the fundraising team’s high-quality and timely communication with funders, including phone calls and written materials (emails, letters of inquiry, correspondence with potential funders, grant applications, etc.).
- Ensure that ROCKBlue has sponsors for events and Global Initiatives including a smooth handoff of sponsors to the Marketing team.
- Oversee maintenance of a continually updated fundraising database in Salesforce to track opportunities and relationships.
- Oversee fundraising team’s weekly meetings and detailed rolling 6-month progress reports to senior management on performance against key performance indicators.
- Participate in ROCKBlue’s overall strategic planning and weekly executive committee meetings
Qualifications
- Proven fundraising experience in the US; proven international development experience; prefer also have water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) experience.
- Has start-up mentality: creative, resourceful, motivated, self-starter, team builder, and leader.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively and translate those thoughts into writing (e.g., to capture strategies in emails and concept notes).
- Proven track record of building relationships with senior staff at foundations and corporations, and government entities, as well as with individual donors.
- Familiarity with fundraising with foundations, individuals, government entities, and faith communities.
- Ability to fully understand ROCKBlue’s mission and work
- Ability to work and communicate remotely, across multiple time zones
Time Commitment
- Ability to dedicate a minimum of 15 hours per week and a maximum of 40 – to be negotiated.
