The Alpvest Institute for FutureTech (AIFT) has launched a pioneering two-week Graduate Workplace Essential Skills & Career Onboarding Programme aimed at equipping South Africa’s unemployed graduates with essential professional skills and matching them to real employment opportunities within the institution.
The initiative is targeted at recent graduates in Education, Business, Finance, ICT, Engineering, and related fields, and will commence in July 2025 with dedicated face-to-face workshops in Umhlanga Rocks, Pretoria, and Johannesburg.
“This programme reflects our commitment to unlocking the potential of South Africa’s graduate talent and preparing them for employability in the Fourth and emerging Fifth Industrial Revolutions,” said Jay Ramnundlall, CEO of AIFT. “We are not only training, but hiring – this is direct action in response to the youth unemployment crisis.”
The programme is delivered over two phases:
- Phase 1 (Week 1): A Workplace Essential Skills training course covering employer expectations, workplace ethics, digital productivity, and compliance. Candidates will complete assessments and receive a formal Certificate of Completion.
- Phase 2 (Week 2): Participants undergo career profiling and complete a tailored onboarding programme aligned to their strengths and interests in roles such as student advisory services, academic administration, finance, ICT support, and tutoring.
Top-performing participants will be eligible for employment offers, internships, or fixed-term contracts within AIFT, contributing directly to the institution’s growing operations in digital learning, academic services, and student support.
The programme will run as a fully subsidised opportunity for qualifying candidates. Applications are now open, and shortlisted participants will be contacted in the coming weeks. AIFT encourages all recent graduates seeking a meaningful career in education, systems, or administration to apply.
