HOTEL GENERAL MANAGER – ONE ROSEBANK EXECUTIVE APARTMENT HOTEL

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven General Manager to lead the operations of our newest flagship property One Rosebank Executive Apartment Hotel. This is a prestigious opportunity to manage a luxury apartment hotel in one of Johannesburg’s most desirable and dynamic neighborhoods.
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the full operational, financial, and guest experience management of the property, ensuring optimal occupancy, profitability, and service excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Leadership:
- Oversee and manage all departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Facilities, Guest Services, and Security
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain 5-star service delivery
- Maintain a pristine and well-maintained building in line with luxury brand standards
Financial Management:
- Create, manage, and report on operating budgets and statements
- Optimize revenue through yield management and occupancy strategies
- Manage cost controls, procurement processes, and operational efficiencies
Guest Experience:
- Lead by example to ensure the highest level of personalized guest service
- Handle VIP guests, conflict resolution, and service recovery strategies
- Ensure consistent positive online reviews and guest satisfaction ratings
Team Leadership and HR:
- Recruit, train, and lead a professional and motivated team across all departments
- Promote a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement
- Schedule and manage performance reviews and staff development plans
Sales and Marketing Support:
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to drive bookings from corporate, leisure, and long-stay clients
- Represent the property at networking functions, industry events, and business development opportunities when required
Property Management:
- Ensure building safety, compliance, and maintenance is proactively managed
- Work closely with service providers, contractors, and security personnel
- Report to the Group General Manager and executive team on performance and strategic initiatives
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of General Manager or Senior Operations Management experience in a luxury hotel or apartment hotel
- Strong understanding of hospitality trends, guest experience design, and operational excellence
- Proven financial acumen and success in managing budgets
- Sound knowledge of property maintenance, housekeeping systems, reservations platforms, and guest feedback tools
- Tertiary qualification in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field (preferred)
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and people management skills
- Hands-on, solutions-oriented, and passionate about high standards
