Requirements:
LLB Degree from an accredited institution
Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
Between 3 to 5 years post-admission experience in general or civil litigation – Banking law
Strong working knowledge of litigation processes, court procedures, and relevant legislation
Demonstrated ability to manage a litigation caseload independently and effectively
Exceptional drafting, legal research, and advocacy skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients
Key duties:
Draft, review, and finalise legal documents, including contracts, settlement agreements, and court pleadings.
Provide sound legal advice to major financial sector clients, with a focus on litigation strategies and debt recovery solutions.
Manage high-value defended matters from inception to finalisation, including the negotiation and settlement of disputes and full representation in court proceedings.
Support senior attorneys with complex dispute resolution, debt collection matters, and contractual disputes.
Develop case strategies for banking-related litigation, including pre-litigation negotiation and risk assessment.
Conduct direct consultations with clients to assess cases, provide advice, and negotiate settlement terms where applicable.
Maintain meticulous case records, monitor procedural timelines, and ensure compliance with all applicable rules and deadlines.
Prepare and submit detailed monthly matter reports and litigation performance matrices to management.
