Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

To assess the sampling activities carried out on site by samplers, as well as the sample preparation supervisor, to ensure:

1. Sufficient staff are on site
2. Staff performing sampling per SoP/Mission Order
3. Deviations and issues from the site are recorded and reported continuously (email & WhatsApp communication)
4. Supervise and report if staff are deviating from SGS policies surrounding ethics and integrity
5. Carry out training where needed for staff
6. Monitor staff times on site

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Attend to all aspects of operational matters related to the work in progress
2. Ensure adherence to International Standards / SoP / Mission Order
3. Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures
4. Ensure adherence to the Company Code of Ethics
5. Liaising with direct superiors regarding progress and/or non-conformance
6. Ensure maintenance of work files & field reports
7. Co-ordinate the daily operational deployment and activities of commercial inspectors in conjunction with the site supervisors
8. Assist in the training, coaching and counseling of full-time employees, sub contractors and part-time employees in conjunction with the branch manager to ensure continuity of competencies to underpin the growth strategies
9. Ensure that all SGS equipment (Camera, vehicles, prep equipment if needed) is respected and maintained in good working order
10. Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system
11. Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the direct line manager.

SPECIFIC AUHORITIES

• Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter a hazardous environment without the necessary knowledge and protection and report the situation to higher authority to action
• Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situations to higher authority to take action
• Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified
• Coordinate quality across Trade sites PE
• Plan staff requirements with PE supervisor.

Qualifications

1. Sampling procedure knowledge of minerals
2. Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Write, Speak)
3. Any other languages an added advantage
4. Drivers license
5. Computer literacy (Minimum Word and Excel)

Key Performance indicators

1. Reporting deviations on site staff and correcting these with immediate supervisors
2. Providing updates on inspections through watsapp and email
3. Authority to discipline and remove staff that do not comply with SGS policies and rules as well as those that consistently not perform according to their planned tasks.
