About Free State Oil

Free State Oil (Pty) Ltd (“FSoil”), a subsidiary of the VKB Group, is a leading soybean processor and marketer of soybean products. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Trader to join our team at our Head Office in Reitz, Free State.

Job description:

This Junior Trader position is in the commodity trading sector, focused on supporting the buying and selling of agricultural products such as soymeal, soybean oil, wheat bran, and maize chop.

The role involves monitoring global and local market trends, assisting with trade administration, preparing performance reports, and ensuring smooth coordination between logistics, finance, and production teams.

Under the guidance of senior traders, the Junior Trader will gain hands-on experience in market analysis, contract execution, and customer relationship management, while developing a strong understanding of commodity markets and agricultural business operations.

What You'll Bring:

• A relevant B.Com or BSc degree in Agriculture, Economics, Finance, or related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in a trading, commodity marketing, or agri-business environment (advantageous but not essential).
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools.

What You'll Do:

• Monitor local and international market trends, providing timely market analysis and reports.
• Assist with position reporting and daily trade administration.
• Support the execution of cash sales for soymeal, soybean oil, soybean hulls, wheat bran, and maize chop.
• Liaise with logistics, finance, and production teams to ensure smooth contract execution and delivery.
• Prepare sales, stock, and market performance reports for internal stakeholders.
• Assist with basic trading activities under guidance, including relevant administrative tasks.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers through professional and efficient communication.
