PG Bison, a proudly South African world-class manufacturer of wood-based decorative panels and associated products, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Foreman to join our dynamic Engineering team at our Boksburg site.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing and executing all mechanical maintenance requirements, shutdown planning, and execution to ensure optimal machine availability and reliability across the plant. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, proven technical ability, and a passion for driving maintenance excellence in a high-performance manufacturing environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent.
- N4 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
- Qualified Fitter or Millwright.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing plant.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in general plant maintenance.
- Proven 5+ years’ experience in supervisory management and job planning (advantageous).
- Previous experience in the wood industry (advantageous).
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Computer literate (Windows programs essential; MS Projects advantageous).
- Sound leadership, communication, and team-management skills.
- Proven track record as a self-starter with high achievement orientation.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical maintenance and shutdown work to ensure maximum machine availability.
- Implement and enforce maintenance business processes and standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain mechanical maintenance standards.
- Train and develop the plant engineering team to adhere to set standards.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with maintenance standards.
- Plan, schedule, and execute both routine and incidental shutdown maintenance.
- Lead, manage, and motivate subordinates effectively.
- Control maintenance costs within set budget parameters.
- Drive continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with OHASA and all relevant safety regulations.
