This role is based in Tumela Mine, Thabazimbi, South Africa
Job Description
-The Mining Planner is jointly responsible for establishing and embedding the sites routine on mine plan into the Synchromine system, being primarily responsible to specify the requirements for completing approved work and ensuring that the plan is revised routinely and is effective in its output and execution. The Planner enables the Production Line Management teams to deliver the ‘Right Work (as per the approved plan), the Right Way (as per work package), at the Right Time (as per schedule)’ thereby providing the Production Teams with safe, sustainable, and cost-effective production capacity.
Roles and responsibilities include the following:
- As SME (Subject Matter Expert to FLM / Mine Overseer on Execution of the “Plan Work” element of the Work Management process (Quality parameters and bookings verification).
- Review of the Work Order Task Status Report daily: To assist in prioritizing planning work/ To track upcoming work
- Plan approved work orders (within area of responsibility) for resource procurement and execution prior to the Required by Date.
- Encourage contribution of planning details from those expected to do the work.
- Incorporate crew input into planning packages. Crew Schedule Reviews.
- Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful planning of work orders for completion by their required by Date.
- Plan work to minimize the impact on operating performance without exceeding the required by Date for work completion. (Draft Schedule Review custodian)
- Plan work to minimize the demand for resources without exceeding the required by Date for work completion collaboration with resource coordinators.
- Comply with applicable legislation, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and use SOPs to improve the efficiency of the planning process.
- Exhibit effective Team Leadership and Team Membership behaviors. Enabler of issue investigation when observed and provide and support mitigation ahead of scheduled execution.
- Optimize the planning process to minimize changes and variability and maximize stability.
- Inspect work areas in mine to assess if any safety concerns and provide feedback to Mine Overseer and develop action plan and implement to resolve any concerns. Monitor and follow up to ensure concerns are addressed.
- Weekly 7/21 Schedule Quality Technical Integrity of Mine Planning
- Ensure efficient mining operational execution by maintaining conformance to all mine planning related standards.
- Adherence to cost budget control requirements.
This role is on a C5 level reporting to the Senior Mining Planner
- -Matric
- Successfully completed all Planner Mining training modules, or equivalent.
- Completed a Blasting Certificate (advantageous) and or, government associated certification and is qualified in the mining discipline or has suitable other technical qualifications and/or experience
Experience
- 3-5 years’ Planning, Survey, MRM Planning and Production Experience in Mining Industry
- Familiar with underground environment and value stream flow of underground conventional production mining.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experienced in using a computerized planned maintenance system (SAP)
- Experienced in using a computerized planned maintenance system (MineOps)
- In depth knowledge of discipline specific work to be planned
- Work Knowledge of client disciplines –Mining, MRM
- Computer literate in full MS office expert knowledge of MS Excel will be advantageous.
- Good reporting, analytical and decision-making skills
- Code 8 driver license
