As Product Manager, you will champion the development and optimisation of cutting-edge products, driving impactful solutions in a fast-paced, AI-forward newsroom environment.
This is a hands-on role bridging our newsroom, engineers, data scientists, product managers, and UX/UI design specialists to shape the future of news in South Africa.
What will you do?
- Enhance and optimise News24’s suite of digital products, ensuring a compelling and consistent user experience.
- Interpret, guide, and refine products to meet evolving newsroom requirements and standards.
- Innovate: conceptualise and deliver new digital publishing features, aiming for engagement and audience growth.
- Collaborate closely with technical and editorial teams to specify and prioritise product requirements.
- Monitor industry trends, technologies, and emerging best practices to keep News24 ahead of the curve.
- Support editorial teams with operational product queries, troubleshooting, and workflow improvements.
- Manage the product lifecycle for both existing and emerging News24 digital assets.
- Lead product rollouts, testing, training, and optimisation across the News24 suite.
- Leverage commercial acumen to identify and seize market opportunities through product enhancements.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant field.
- At least 5 years’ product management experience, with at least 4 years in a digital/mobile environment.
- Exceptional communicator with proven experience presenting to varied audiences. Able to convey complex concepts in a simple and digestible manner.
- Demonstrable track record of successful product launches and stakeholder engagement.
- Thorough knowledge of prevailing and emerging mobile trends and technology.
- Highly analytical, data- and research-driven approach to product development.
- Adept at managing diverse workloads and shifting priorities in a dynamic newsroom setting.
- Experienced in agile and lean processes.
- Strong experience with web and mobile product design and delivery.
