PROFESSOR/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (REF: A401)
Requirements:
Professor
- Doctoral degree in Mercantile or Private Law.
- Relevant undergraduate degree in either of the fields mentioned above.
- At least 10 years teaching experience in a tertiary institution or 7 years professional experience in the relevant field.
- At least 15 articles published in accredited journals, chapters in a book or book publication.
- Evidence of supervision of at least four Masters/ Doctoral students to completion.
- Evidence of current grant funding or other third-stream income from external sources and NRF rating will be an added advantage.
Associate Professor
- Doctoral degree in Mercantile or Private Law.
- At least 10 years teaching experience in a tertiary institution or 7 years professional experience in the relevant field.
- At least 10 articles published in accredited journals, chapters in a book or a book publication.
- Evidence of supervision of at least four Masters/ Doctoral students to completion.
- NRF rating will be an added advantage.
Duties
- Teach undergraduate modules in any of two of the following: Business and Corporate Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Administration of Estates, International Trade Law, Intellectual Property Law, Information and Communications Technology Law, Competition Law.
- Teach and supervise postgraduate students in the Department of Mercantile Law and Private Law.
- Demonstrate exemplary leadership in the Department of Mercantile and Private Law.
- Conduct individual and collaborative research and attract grant funding and other third-stream income on behalf of the department and the School of Law.
- Coordinate programmes, develop the curriculum and establish linkages with other academic institutions, community structures and be actively involved in community engagement initiatives.
