- Manage and contribute to the compilation of rehabilitation plans and financial provision estimates.
- Thorough understanding of soil science and how soils relate to rehabilitation.
- Botanical knowledge in the context of successional plant species suitable for rehabilitation, within the context of the specific region within which the site falls (especially grasses that can be utilized for this purpose);
- Thorough understanding of different techniques and practical methods of rehabilitation that are both feasible and cost effective.
- Basic background relating to wetland assessments and practical knowledge on the principles of wetland rehabilitation.
- Understanding of ecological principles and the impacts of mining on these both pre and post mining.
- Legal knowledge associated with rehabilitation, as well as international standards and guidelines.
- Identification of potential shortcomings related to existing sites that have previously been rehabilitated and how to address these shortcomings.
- Development of tailored monitoring protocols that can be implemented post rehabilitation, to monitor the success of the interventions.
- Must be able to interact with multiple consulting disciplines.
- Participate in the marketing of the company’s different rehabilitation services we offer (rehabilitation plans; rehabilitation monitoring and audits);
- Strong background related to the mining industry.
- Must be innovative and creative in the context of practical problem solving solutions.
- Good verbal and writing skills.
Qualifications
- BSc degree in Plant Science, Agriculture, Soil Science, Biology, Botany, Ecology or Natural Sciences (or similar)
- Must have a driver’s license.
Work Experience
- 5 or more years’ practical knowledge or experience in similar roles.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
