Overview of Duties:
The AHRI Research Laboratory Technician’s main responsibility is to perform HIV whole genome amplification and sequencing. She/He will also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. She/He will also be responsible for recording data and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results.
Overview of duties:
- Perform laboratory activities relating to HIV research projects.
- Perform molecular biology experiments including nucleic acid extraction, PCR (various techniques), and sequencing.
- Assist senior researchers with experiments, quality control and data management and verification.
- Perform sequencing and bioinformatic analysis.
- Accurate data management & reporting.
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping / equipment maintenance.
- Participation in the institution’s academic activities including journal club, lab meetings, research update meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in molecular biology, Microbiology, Virology or equivalent in related field.
Minimum Experience:
- Experience in HIV lab research.
- Experience in molecular biology, including PCR, sequencing, sequence analysis, and cloning.
- High level of computer literacy.
Skills Required:
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Accuracy and precision.
- High computer literacy.
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
- Must be able to work under pressure.
