Position Summary
The Retail Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, driving sales performance, delivering exceptional customer service, managing inventory, and leading the store team to achieve the retailers' standards and goals.
Key Responsibilities 1. Customer Service & Sales
- Conduct daily team meetings to communicate sales targets and provide guidance to achieve them.
- Ensure all team members understand their daily tasks and deliver excellent customer service in line with the retailers’ procedures.
- Monitor individual sales performance against targets throughout the day.
2. Sales
- Maximise sales by increasing conversion rates.
- Set and communicate daily sales targets to all staff, including Flexi staff and Learners.
- Drive cross-selling and upselling initiatives.
- Establish partnerships with local podiatrists, running clubs, and gyms to generate sales opportunities.
- Expand the customer database program.
- Ensure customer orders are processed within three working days.
- Meet or exceed gross margin targets.
3. Team Management
- Foster a positive team environment through regular meetings, sharing KPIs, allocating tasks, and reviewing Mystery Shopping insights.
- Recruit, lead, and motivate the store team to achieve sales and provide exceptional service aligned with the retailers’ standards.
- Use traffic analysis and rostering to optimise conversion.
- Conduct monthly feedback sessions and manage the performance appraisal process.
- Provide regular training (Product, Customer Service, Sales, Loss Prevention, Podiatry, Technical).
- Oversee induction processes, staff scheduling, and lunch break coordination.
- Manage Eco-time system daily.
- Ensure all staff comply with uniform and name badge requirements.
4. Inventory
- Monitor stock on hand and adjust replenishment as required.
- Minimise shrinkage and maintain accurate stock records.
- Complete weekly, monthly, and quarterly stock counts.
- Implement markdowns as directed.
- Action negative stock reports weekly.
- Process deliveries on the day of receipt, including verification, tagging, hanging, and pricing.
- Maintain storeroom efficiency with proper product organisation.
5. Operations
- Adhere to the Daily Planner and weekly Store Audit actions.
- Ensure visual merchandising and window displays comply with the retailers’ standards.
- Maintain store cleanliness, lighting, and appropriate in-store music.
- Perform store opening and closing procedures.
- Reconcile cash daily, complete cash-up reports, and manage banking.
- Finalise month-end Stock Receipts and Sales Performance reports.
- Control store expenses including discounts, payouts, stationery, and utilities.
- Ensure compliance with operational health and safety policies.
- Manage stationery orders (e.g., receipt rolls, barcode labels).
