Grade C Security Officer — Duties
Access control
Check IDs, issue/collect visitor passes, control gates/turnstiles.
Patrolling (detailed)
Conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols of assigned areas on a set schedule.
Perform randomised patrols in addition to scheduled ones to deter criminal activity.
Inspect doors, windows, locks, fencing, perimeter lights, fire exits and emergency equipment.
Check for suspicious persons, vehicles, packages, hazards, and site damage.
Cross-check physical patrol findings against CCTV where available.
Use patrol logs / occurrence book / electronic timestamps (GPS or clock-in) to record times, routes and observations.
Report and escalate any incidents immediately (breach, fire, injury, vandalism)Searches & screening
Search persons, bags, and vehicles as per site policy.
Monitoring
Monitor alarms, CCTV, and sensors if assigned.
Incident response
Respond to alarms, perform basic first-aid/stabilisation until emergency services arrive, and secure scene.
Reporting & admin
Complete occurrence book (OB), shift handover notes and incident reports accurately.
Customer service & enforcement
Provide direction to staff/visitors and enforce site rules professionally.
Grade C — Key Responsibilities (updated)
Maintain a visible and active presence to deter theft and misconduct.
Ensure all patrols are completed and logged; maintain accurate records.
Prevent unauthorised access and secure vulnerable points.
Escalate serious incidents to supervisors (Grade B/A) or client contacts.
Preserve evidence and protect incident scenes until law enforcement arrives.
Adhere to PSIRA Code of Conduct and client-specific SOPs.

Pay: R6 000,00 - R6 500,00 per month
