The Senior Manager, Bid Office is a senior management role, responsible for managing a Bid Office team and develops and refines tools, methods and processes used in the bid process.
This role ensures that bids are effectively managed from the time that a sales opportunity is qualified in (assessed as a desirable deal for the organization to pursue) to the time that it is won or lost and handed over to the delivery team that will fulfil the project or contract with the client.
This is a senior people management role accountable for coaching, mentoring and leading a team of Bid Specialists ensuring that KPIs are met.
Key responsibilities:
- May be required to take the lead on large deals that require experience managing large bid teams.
- Manages a high-performing Bid Office team and provide guidance, support, and mentorship to the team to ensure successful bid pursuits.
- Manages the implementation of bid methodologies, processes, tools, templates and policies.
- Ensures project management principles and expertise are applied to the management of bids including the management of resources, timeframes, risk, quality and governance.
- Manages all aspects and stages related to bid management and the process within the organization.
- Works with the relevant cross functional teams to ensure all risk, governance, regulatory compliance terms and conditions are appropriately addressed in bid responses and relevant opportunities.
- Implements best practices for proposal writing, including clear value propositions, compelling messaging, and persuasive storytelling.
- Analyzes bid outcomes, win rates, and feedback to identify areas of improvement and implement strategies for enhanced success.
- Works closely with Bid Specialists to establish clear and effective plans for each bid and execute in accordance with these plans.
- Effectively coordinates bid resources to facilitate the development of appropriate deal strategies, solution and service architectures, commercial models and delivery/service management plans.
- Develops and maintains an auditable trail of all bid artefacts and records on recognized company systems.
- Ensures that each bid is subject to the requisite team and management reviews prior to client submission, complying with company corporate deal governance.
- Coordinates the sourcing of general bid collateral from authorized owners in the business.
- Manages the compilation and delivery of all client-facing bid deliverables in accordance with client instructions and requirements as well as company standards.

Academic qualifications and certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Commercial, Business Development, Finance or related field.
- Management Development Program certification preferred.
- Relevant project management certification is desirable.
Required experience:
- Extended demonstrated experience managing, coordinating and implementing the bid process successfully within a related environment.
- Extended demonstrated pricing strategy experience.
- Extended demonstrated experience managing a team through coaching and mentoring techniques.
