A well-known hotel and golf course in Phalaborwa is seeking the services of a Small Tools Operator. The Small Tools Operator will be responsible for the safe and effective use of handheld and small-scale machinery used in the maintenance of the golf course and surrounding landscapes. This role supports the greenkeeping team by operating tools such as brush cutters, hedge trimmers, edgers, chainsaws, blowers, and similar equipment to ensure the golf course is kept in optimal playing condition and visually appealing.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate a variety of small tools and equipment including, but not limited to:
-Brush cutters
-Hedge trimmers
-Chainsaws
-Edgers
-Blowers
-Push mowers
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of small tools to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Assist with edging, trimming, and clearing of roughs, bunkers, tee boxes, pathways, and landscaped areas.
- Support the landscaping and greenkeeping teams in general grounds maintenance duties.
- Safely transport tools and equipment across different areas of the course.
- Report any equipment faults or safety concerns immediately.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, using proper protective gear and operating techniques.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools are stored properly after use.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license.
- Certification to operate specific tools.
Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years' experience operating landscaping or groundskeeping equipment.
- Familiarity with basic tool maintenance and safety protocols.
- Physical ability to handle strenuous, outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
