Provide sound legal, regulatory and compliance advice to VBAG and Affiliates on various matters. To support the business on the drafting of contracts for customers and vendors. Exercise good judgment regarding the terms and conditions when negotiating and finalizing agreements. To provide advice on Vodacom Policies and Procedures and Regulatory landscape with the ability to pragmatically balance business requirements and associated legal, regulatory and compliance risks. To support on governance and company secretarial matters and the drafting of reports required for the various committees
- Day to day responsibility for providing accurate, effective and timely legal,regulatory and compliance advice.
- Keep VBAG business stakeholders updated and briefed on material developments in their matters.
- Play a role in negotiating and drafting of customer and vendor agreements, including the Docusign and Cas management processes.
- Maintain all standard agreement templates and ensure that they are updated and in line with Group Legal standards.
- Provide support on Compliance management including, but not limited to (trade control and sanctions project, Bridger platform and regular due diligence and sanctions checks) and drafting of relevant policies and procedures.
- Undertake research on regulatory landscape and other matters when required
- Ensure that all governance and company secretarial matters of VBAG and its affiliates are in order and statutory timelines are adhered to, inclusive of management of Board meetings, drafting board resolutions, compiling board packs and taking of minutes.
- Management of the VBA blueprint site.
- Drafting of strategic and operational reports.
- Management of legal projects.
- LLB Degree or higher.
- Admitted attorney with 1- 3 years of postqualification experience.
- Demonstrable experience in the negotiation and drafting of contracts and agreements,with the ability to provide innovative legal solutions.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Experience in working in jurisdictions outside of South Africa is an advantage
- Commercial attorney or knowledge of the telecoms industry or related experience.
- Well-developed research skills.
- Capable of negotiating and drafting commercial contracts.
- Providing legal advice to senior business leaders of VBAGS.
- Sound drafting skills.
- Developed oratory skills.
- Team player with strong negotiating/persuading skills.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate with the business and external stakeholders and proactive management of stakeholders.
