WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Plan, schedule, coordinate and control resources to ensure the efficient manufacturing of combustible components.
- Maintain production schedule and productivity.
- Transform the plant manager’s strategic mission into a section-specific vision and mission,
- Read, interpret, implement, and ensure compliance with Product Specifications, Product Manufacturing Instructions (PMI), Facility Operating Instructions (FOI) and Control Plans (CP)
- Ensure staff is trained and competent as per PMI, FOI, CP, Special safety rules, and explosive regulations.
- Maintain explosives environment housekeeping standards and SHE requirements in line with organisational requirements and the Explosives Act.
- Analyse production data such as shift output and rectify bottlenecks.
- Liaise with other functional groups regarding requirements.
- Lead and manage the implementation, and maintenance, of LEAN principles and methodologies within the respective facility including Continuous Improvements.
- Responsible and ethical leadership with a strong ability to maintain discipline.
- Knowledge of daily reports and accuracy of information.
- Manage consumables and stationery; issue, record, monitor and load requests on the SAP ERP system
- Monitor maintenance schedules, observe trends and give corrective actions if applicable.
- Manage and monitor scrap and waste; determine the cause of the deviation and initiate corrective action.
- Drive the closure of safety and quality-related issues.
- Ensure that the Policies and Procedures are followed correctly.
- Responsible for monitoring stock levels on the plant and on SAP ERP system and accurate recording of stock on daily report sheets.
- Communicate daily targets to the team and provide feedback to the Line Manager.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as requested by line management.
- Adhere to all applicable legislation within RDM.
- Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- National Diploma in Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- BTech in Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification will be advantageous.
- At least 5 years’ experience in an Explosive environment.
- Knowledge of handling hazardous substances and explosive material, particularly nitrocellulose products.
- Knowledge of SAP ERP system and Team Centre.
- Ability to make decisions, take initiative and demonstrate good judgement.
- Good interpersonal skill and attention to detail.
- Good problem solving and leadership skills.
- Good planning skills and time management.
- Proven ability to take responsibility and high level of integrity.
- Willing to work shifts as required by the business
- Basic Computer Literacy
- A valid Driver's License
