Job Description
This role is focused on developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure the organisation adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. It also involves monitoring regulatory changes, emerging risks, and industry trends to identify potential compliance issues and recommend the right actions. In addition, the position is responsible for supplier quality, which includes setting quality standards for raw materials, conducting supplier audits, and monitoring supplier performance to ensure that products consistently meet agreed requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in quality management or related field or equivalent experience in food manufacturing
- HACCP, ISO9001, LEAN, BRCGS, Lead Auditor Certification, FSSC, FDA & SQA (Supplier Quality Assurance certification)
- 5 years of related work experience in product safety, quality, and auditing systems
- Excellent interpersonal skills and fluency in English.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a food manufacturing/processing environment
Duties and Responsibilities
Compliance Assurance:
- Ensuring that the organization complies with outside regulatory and legal requirements, as well as internal policies and bylaws.
- Having appropriate disciplinary measures in place in the event of a regulatory breach to avoid a future recurrence.
- Organizing regular training sessions for employees to efficiently communicate key regulatory changes and updates.
- Ensuring standards through disciplinary policies to ensure the organization achieves and maintains government compliance.
- Creating and implementing organizational policies, standards, and procedures to comply with applicable regulations.
- Ensuring that the company is equipped with internal controls that adequately measure and manage the risks it faces.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards by partnering with suppliers.
- Oversees the development and implementation of quality management systems to ensure that the organization maintains consistent quality across its products and services.
- Managing the documentation system for quality procedures, standards, and specifications is part of their responsibility and ensure that these documents are upto-date and comply with regulatory requirements
Supplier Evaluation:
- Leading supplier and material evaluations or internal food safety and quality audit processes for a specific category.
- Oversee the validation and qualification processes for equipment, processes and systems, to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Auditing suppliers, external manufacturers, and company facilities.
- Oversee supplier qualification and performance evaluation to ensure alignment with the organization’s quality standards and compliance requirements.
- To achieve product safety and quality business objectives through effective management of supplier relationships and performance.
- Identifying risks related to suppliers and materials and implementing appropriate due diligence measures.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Leading and developing a team in quality and regulation.
- Managing communication during change initiatives.
- Tracking and monitoring key performance indicators.
- Collaborates closely with suppliers, internal colleagues (including procurement, operations, commercial, supply chain, regulatory, and research and development), and external manufacturers.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate quality considerations into new product development and existing product improvements.
- When quality issues or non-conformances arise, this role participates in investigating, to determine root causes. Subsequently, they implement corrective and preventive actions to mitigate recurrence.
- Working hand in hand with management and staff to identify and manage regulatory risk.
- Maintaining open lines of communication with all relevant decision makers and stakeholders to keep all parties informed of regulatory changes.
Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously monitor the effectiveness of quality management systems by conducting regular audits and reviews, they ensure adherence to industry standards, legal compliance, and customer expectations.
- Leads and coordinates the audit process, both internal and external. They prepare audit plans, execute audits, and manage findings and corrective actions.
- To participate in continuous improvement programs. This enhances quality systems, processes, and practices, ensuring ongoing effectiveness and efficiency
Documentation:
- Raw materials specifications in conjunction with the suppliers.
- Collaborate with R&D for the finished product specifications.
- Ensure supplier compliance to Halaal and Kosher regulations and liaise with Halaal and Kosher bodies.
