Africa Talent by Deloitte (Africa Talent) is a standalone division of Deloitte, owned by Deloitte Africa and Deloitte Netherlands, based in South Africa. Our goal is to meet the growing demand for Talent in Africa and Europe; by recruiting and developing Talent throughout Sub Saharan Africa in order to service the diverse needs and to enable projects at our clients. Talent employed will have the full experience of Deloitte, while getting both international and local exposure to a diverse set of clients, working remotely from Africa. It will take advantage of the demographic reality of Africa as a future source of talent for both Africa and Europe and at its core, the goal is to create employment in Africa and invest in African talent.

Job Description
A a member of the Data Analytics team, you will assist with applying data analytic techniques to increase an organisation’s capacity to anticipate risk and maximise business opportunities through data driven insights. Deloitte’s deep and thorough understanding of underlying risk and control issues, combined with our knowledge of technology and analytic skills, uniquely helps us to identify high priority risk areas in our client’s businesses and explore those risks using data analytics.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated their ability to carry out data analysis from initial requirements gathering through to production deployment and operations. They would have communicated a deep interest in solving analytics challenges using many different techniques and technologies and have demonstrated their ongoing commitment to personal learning and development in this discipline. Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to a wide audience is a must.
Expertise in data transformation and modelling analytic results, you’ll formulate conclusions and recommendations to client stakeholders, leveraging strong consulting, communication, visualization including storytelling skills.
• Work in an agile, collaborative environment, partnering with other stakeholders including audit team and data analytics consultants to integrate the analytics with enterprise-level solution development with the aim of providing viable insights to clients.
• Responsible for managing, building and optimizing data architectures and Convert into relevant insights using data analytics technologies and clear interpretations using data governance and data quality processes.
• Design of data pipelines for data ingestion and data transformation and ensure the reconciliation and accuracy of the data
• Development of data modelling and architecture documentation
• Provide technical trainings on data analytics standards and procedures including mentorship to junior colleagues.
• Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand and define business needs and translate them to a data science context
• Contribute to the design and development of analytical solutions in response to these risks.
• A passion for continuously improving yourself and how we best solve our clients’ problems
• Interact cohesively with other members of the Financial Risk & Regulatory team, including being a buddy to new members of the team.
• Open and honest communication to understand what is required of you and how you and others can improve.
• Contribute to the analysis and interpretation of data towards relevant communications to explain the value of the work completed.
• Assist in identifying and collecting data from financial systems and other related data sources
• Assist in assessing and determining the techniques and tools to be used in collection, analysis and communication for a project
• Apply selected analytical techniques and tools to achieve project outcomes
• Ability to effectively work in technical cross-functional teams
• Provide expertise on data analytics and digital transformation
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while maintaining project timelines
• Understanding of ML and AI concepts and its applicability.
• SAP experience an advantage.
• Project management skills essential for this role.
• Practical data engineering skillset is a basic requirement but fundamental domain experience in any field is a complimentary advantage
Qualifications
Are you someone with:
• 2- 3 years experience with MS SQL Server and experience in visual communication of analysis (i.e. Tableau and Power BI)
• Experience extracting and analysing data from complex data sets and systems
• Strong attention to detail with a curiosity to understand data
• Ability to thrive working in a team environment and serving clients with distinction
• Ability to turn data into insights and communicate insights effectively with our clients
• Ideally, experience in visual communication of analysis (e.g. Tableau, Qlik, Power BI)
• Strong Knowledge of Excel and VBA
