PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To conduct maintenance and emergency repairs safely on trackless mobile machinery
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) is essential
- Recognized relevant Trade qualification (section 13) is essential
- OR
- Proof of recognised completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time) AND NTC 2 (Relevant Trade Theory) Qualification is essential.
- Minimum of 3 years working experience as an Auto Electrician is essential.
- Valid Medical certificate or medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate
COMPETENCIES:
- Build basic auto electrical circuits
- Construct simple electro-pneumatic/hydraulic circuits
- Knowledge of TMM Machines
- Construct and test advanced electronic circuits
- Understand and apply a problem-solving technique
- Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles
- Demonstrate an understanding of the uses and safety aspect associated with flammable energy sources
- Understand basic electronic theory and components
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Assembling, fitting, and repairing automobile auxiliary harnesses
- Fitting and wiring up auxiliary auto-electrical equipment
- Removing and fitting automobile mechanical and electrical components
- Removing, testing, fitting, and servicing automobile batteries
- Servicing and repairing electronic and conventional automobile ignition systems
- Tracing and repairing faults on advanced auto electrical circuits
- Diagnosing, testing, and repairing conventional automobile systems
- Leading the team, planning, allocating and assessing their work
- Conducting on-the-job coaching
- Attending to callouts with regards to breakdowns.
