Position Overview:
BAIC SA is seeking an experienced and dynamic B-BBEE & APDP Compliance Specialist to join our team. This strategic role focuses on ensuring full compliance with Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) and the Automotive Production and Development Programme (APDP-2), while aligning with BAIC SA’s long-term transformation and operational goals. The ideal candidate will drive transformation initiatives, enhance supplier development, and maximize policy-related benefits under APDP.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
B-BBEE Strategy & Compliance
- Develop and implement transformation strategies in alignment with BAIC SA’s long-term vision.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to all B-BBEE compliance requirements.
- Strategically optimize the Procurement element of the B-BBEE scorecard.
- Identify and implement procurement initiatives that promote supplier diversity and transformation.
- Prepare and manage annual B-BBEE budgets and reporting.
APDP-2 Program Management
- Ensure full compliance with APDP-2 regulations and customs documentation requirements.
- Engage with SARS and ITAC for APDP-related approvals and compliance.
- Calculate and validate PI/VALA at both component and final product level.
- Support the finance team with accurate duty payable calculations and PI claims submission.
- Identify and mitigate APDP-related legislative risks through predictive strategies.
Strategic Collaboration & Localization
- Work closely with Buyers and Engineers on supplier evaluation and localisation initiatives.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including SARS, ITAC, and DTI.
- Support homologation processes for new vehicle models.
Cross-Functional Support & Projects
- Coordinate with internal departments (Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, etc.) to align objectives.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional ad hoc strategic projects as assigned by the department head.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Strategic Planning, Financial Management, Human Resources, Procurement or a related field
· Minimum of 5 years' experience in B-BBEE environments and APDP regulatory compliance.
· Minimum of 5 years in customs, freight forwarding, or the automotive component customs environment.
· Proven experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Manufacturing operations.
· Strong project management, process auditing, and financial evaluation skills.
· Solid understanding of vehicle homologation approval processes.
· High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
· Valid driver’s license (Code B).
