We are seeking a licensed hairstylist (licensed within the past 5 years) to serve as a Beauty Intelligence Advisor on our AI development team. This role involves providing insights on hair types, styles, face shape compatibility, and real-world hair challenges to help train and refine our AI recommendation engine.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute your expertise to a tech-forward, equity-driven project that respects and uplifts the work of beauty professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on hairstyles best suited for different hair textures and types (e.g., 4C, relaxed, fine, color-treated, etc.)
- Recommend styles for various face shapes (oval, round, square, etc.)
- Identify common hair care challenges by lifestyle, environment, or texture
- Annotate images/videos of styles with professional input
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product teams to improve AI output
- Support the development of a universal learning standard for our beauty platform
Qualifications:
- Valid cosmetology or hairstylist license received within the last 5 years
- Strong understanding of diverse hair types and cultural hair practices
- Confident in assessing and styling based on face shape
- Strong communication skills and ability to share expertise with non-beauty teams
- Comfortable working remotely and on flexible schedules
- Passion for inclusive beauty, ethical tech, and innovation
Bonus Qualifications (Not Required):
- Experience teaching, training, or mentoring other beauty professionals
- Content creation (video tutorials, Instagram/YouTube presence, etc.)
- Experience in multicultural or textured-hair salons
