Fully remote Full Time BOOKKEEPER - based in South Africa
Byoot is a construction company in the UK that provides a full turnkey solution, from planning, architects, structural engineers, building control and the build, leaving clients to focus on their day jobs while we do ours.
The role requires an experienced Bookkeeper, with at least 4+ years of practical experience working for a main contractor preferably. They will be responsible for the financial management of a number of projects, throughout the full life cycle of the project, including the execution of commercial, financial and contractual matters for a number of projects throughout the full project life cycle.
Candidates must be robust and comfortable with communicating complex or sensitive issues to Clients and other stakeholders. They should have a calm professional approach and the ability to resolve disputes with factual, well-reasoned explanations. They must have a strong track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with Clients and other stakeholders at all levels.
Above all, the post holder will be proactive, keen to excel and contribute to the continued success of the business.
THE ROLE
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Monitor, process, and reconcile invoices, bills, and payments.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in a timely and compliant manner.
- Bank reconciliations.
- Use Xero for all aspects of financial reporting, transaction matching, and forecasting.
- Prepare regular financial reports cash-flow forecasts and budgets and ad-hoc insights for stakeholders.
- Actively participate in financial decision-making and offer data-driven input.
- Work closely with accountants, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ensure all financial documentation is audit-ready.
- Manage day-to-day office operations, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Maintain accurate financial records using Xero and handle invoicing processes, payments and credit control.
- Payroll & PAYE
- Ensure all expenses & incomes entries are reconciled on time so that management accounts can be produced on a timely basis
- Resolve ad hoc queries in a timely manner such as administrative duties
- Raising sales invoices
- Verify discrepancies by and resolve clients’ billing issues
Knowledge and Experience
- 4 years UK Experience
- Exceptional knowledge of excel
- Xero proficient
- Excellent system skills
- Good understanding of capital allowances
- Highly developed personal communication skills, both written and oral
- Must be self-motivated and self-starting with ability to multi-task and effectively manage own workload, prioritising effectively and consistently meet deadlines
- Excellent analytical skills with proven attention to detail
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: R20 000,00 - R30 000,00 per month
