What you will be doing:
- Manage the full payroll function
- Involvement with the bookkeeping and accounting function up to Trial Balance.
- Process bank transactions, manage accounts payable/receivable, and ensure accurate reconciliations.
- Handle payroll processing, PAYE, VAT, and income tax submissions.
- Assist with month-end and year-end processes, and liaise with external accountants.
- Generate financial reports, including cash flow analysis and support for budgeting/forecasting.
- Maintain stock records and the fixed asset register.
- Utilise and optimise bookkeeping systems.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including BEE and contract management.
- Maintain document control and support internal administrative processes.
- Training assistants in junior accounting functions such as purchase orders, stock management and invoicing.
What our client is looking for:
- Relevant qualification in Accounting or Bookkeeping (certificate, diploma, or degree).
- 3+ years’ experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of payroll, VAT, tax submissions, and financial compliance.
- Tech savvy and comfortable working with accounting software (proficiency in QuickBooks would be an advantage).
- Detail-oriented with excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and process-driven mindset.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
