Purpose of the Role
The Business Development Consultant / Sales Development Representative is responsible for generating new business opportunities within the finance recruitment sector. This role focuses on identifying and engaging potential clients, understanding their recruitment needs, and providing tailored solutions to support their business objectives. The role requires a consultative sales approach, strong relationship management skills, and the ability to work independently to drive revenue growth.
There will initially be a strong focus on three clearly defined prospect groups:
Live Employer Adverts – Hiring managers with active job postings
Hot Prospects – Line managers likely to be recruiting soon
Monthly Movers – Senior decision-makers who have recently changed roles and are likely to be hiring
The successful candidate will have access to internal and external coaching and development programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
Identify and target potential clients, proactively approaching key decision-makers
Develop and implement lead generation strategies to secure new business
Conduct virtual meetings and presentations to demonstrate recruitment solutions
Build and manage a pipeline of business opportunities
Progress prospects through the sales cycle to build relationships and secure vacancies
Maintain a strong personal brand and leverage platforms such as LinkedIn for outreach
Engage with prospects via telephone, email, video, voice notes, social media, and direct mail
Conduct all client interactions remotely, using platforms such as Microsoft Teams
Client Relationship Management
Build long-term relationships with clients to understand their recruitment needs
Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, offering ongoing advice and support
Negotiate terms of business and agreements with new and existing clients
Market & Industry Awareness
Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and business opportunities
Stay informed about developments in the finance and recruitment sectors
Collaboration & Reporting
Collaborate closely with recruitment consultants to ensure effective delivery of services
Provide regular updates on sales performance, activity, and market intelligence
Contribute to the improvement and refinement of business development processes
