Job Purpose
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to supervise and render IsiXhosa and English language support services to the Western Cape Government.


Minimum Requirements
An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification); A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience.

Key Performance Areas
Ensuring the provision of translation, editing and interpreting services; Quality assurance of all documents; Render language advisory services; Implement the necessary policy and procedures with regard to provincial language services; Develop and record terminology; Compile and maintain databases relating to language services rendered; Perform administrative tasks; Financial administration, including procurement and tender processes; Human resource management;It will be advantageous to have experience in: Editing and translation of English/IsiXhosa documents; Procurement procedures and Terminology development.


Competencies
Knowledge of the following: Profound working knowledge of English and IsiXhosa; English and IsiXhosa translation and editing of all official documents.


Skills needed: Written and verbal communication in English and isiXhosa; Language skills; Strong leadership; Proven computer literacy; Strong planning and organisational skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team.



Remuneration
R 468 459 - R 561 894 per annum (Salary level 9)


Note on remuneration: in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.



Notes
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to do a practical and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
