Job Description:
We are excited to be on the hunt for a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Dutch-speaking News Editor – iGaming & Sports Betting.
In this role, you will oversee the editorial process, shape our gambling news coverage, and ensure we deliver timely, accurate, and engaging content across the iGaming and sports betting verticals. You’ll play a key part in developing our news strategy, curating the gambling section of our news feed, and ensuring all coverage aligns with industry trends and editorial standards. You’ll work closely with writers and editors, manage daily operations, and stay sharp on the latest developments in the global iGaming landscape.
Responsibilities:
- Editorial Leadership: Assist the Managing Editor in overseeing the full editorial process, with a focus on curating the gambling and sports betting sections
- News Strategy & Production: Shape and drive the news strategy: Oversee the news strategy, ensuring this aligns with industry trends, audience needs, and company and commercial goals; handle routine editorial tasks; plan, brief, write, check, and publish news content
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of writers, editors, and freelancers, fostering editorial growth and maintaining consistent voice and quality.
Coordinate cross-functionally with SEO, design, and social teams to maximise content reach and performance - Editorial Innovation: Identify and introduce new content formats, tools, and workflows to improve newsroom efficiency and reader engagement, drive traffic, and exposure
- Data-driven news strategy: Leverage analytics and results to refine editorial decisions and optimize coverage based on traffic, engagement, and conversion data
- Expand reach and partnerships, news-desk: Establish and maintain key industry relationships
- Stay ahead of iGaming and sports betting trends, regulatory shifts, and market developments to keep the publication at the forefront of the industry
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial writing/ journalism, specifically in gambling, iGaming, or sports betting journalism
- Able to work mornings in the European Time zone
- Proven experience commissioning and editing content within e-sports, gaming, or adjacent digital media
- Solid grasp of SEO best practices and how they apply to long-form editorial content
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple writers, deadlines, and content pipelines
- Solid understanding of the iGaming and casino industry, including key players, market trends, and regulatory landscapes, and/ or the sportsbetting niche, including major titles, teams, tournaments, and monetisation models
- Proficiency with CMS platforms and editorial tools; comfort working in a fast-paced digital newsroom environment
- Experience with e-sports betting or the intersection of gambling and competitive gaming
- A network of freelance writers or subject matter experts in gaming or e-sports
- Confidence in using analytics tools (e.g., GA4, GSC) to inform editorial decisions
