VACANCY: RELIEF ENROLLED/STAFF NURSES FISH HOEK ELDERCARE
Fish Hoek Eldercare is seeking qualified and compassionate Relief Enrolled Nurses / Staff Nurses to join our team on an as-needed (locum) basis.
If you are a qualified Staff nurse / Enrolled Nurse, based in Cape Town Southern Suburbs, with experience and a passion for working in ElderCare.
This role require high energy, with an ability to multi-task whilst demonstrating patience, compassion and kindness. Our residents and their care are our number one priority.
The successful candidate will monitor and care for residents under the guidance and supervision of the Nursing Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Provision of Care
Ensure a high standard of nursing care to meet the needs of the residents
Basic Care
Ø Assess and develop a nursing care plan for each resident
Ø Evaluate and review the effectiveness of the care plan on the resident’s health
Ø Identify and respond to the needs of the residents
Ø Recognise the need for action, considering possible risks, and take responsibility for the outcomes
Medication
Ø Dispense medication and other therapy as per Doctor’s orders
Ø Check and record medication received and administered
Nutrition
Ø Ensure diets are given as per care plan
Ø Monitor fluid balance, elimination status and nutritional state
Stimulation
Ø Develop activities for residents
Ø Implement mobility / exercise and activity program for all residents
Relationship Development
Ø Maintain communication with residents’ families regarding any changes / emergencies
Ø Build relationships and liaise as necessary with HealthCare professionals
Ø Facilitate good relationships and communication with colleagues and junior staff
Leadership and Management of Team
Ø Provide oversight as the most senior person available in the unit
Ø Supervise and coordinate Caregivers
Ø Delegate duties within the scope of practice
Ø Provide on-going training and development of staff.
Ø Utilise correct channels of communication to resolve conflicts, problems and grievances
Ø Lead the team in emergency procedures
Reporting
Ø Ensure required records are maintained on a daily basis
Ø Communicate accurate information to affected parties both verbally and in writing
Ø Participate in meetings as required
Management
Ø Implement infection control measures as appropriate
Ø Ensure privacy, confidentiality and safety of residents, their property and reputation.
Ø Prevent abuse, victimisation or discrimination and report as required
Ø Maintain nursing supplies inventory through stock control.

Qualifications
Education
Ø Staff Nurse Diploma
Experience
Ø 6 years post qualification experience working in hospitals and aged care facility
Ø Experience with the elderly
Registration
Ø Up to date SANC Registration
Ø Covid Vaccination

Preference will be given to candidates who have worked with the Elderly. .
