Overall objective of Job Function
Sodexo is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead our finance function and support strategic decision-making. This is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving financial performance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
· Ensuring all contractual and relevant charges are processed on accounts.
· Processing of sundry creditor EFT’s and sub-contractor invoices.
· Submitting unit EFT’s to Accounts Payable within the stipulated deadline.
· Generating and distribution of Sales Tax Invoices and statement to Sodexo clients in line with client deadlines.
· Preparing and processing approved sales credit notes (All sales credit notes must be authorized in line with the company policy and delegation of authority)
· Management of the debtor aging.
· Ensuring stock counts are taking place, effectively and efficiently, at the Units.
· Ensuring the month end stock count sheets are signed by Operations Management.
· Preparing and processing of journals at unit level – to be signed online on SAGE INTACCT by line manager. (Including the upload of supporting documents).
· Reviewing of stock count sheets for anomalies and significant variances.
· Processing of stock journals and stock adjustment journals, where necessary
· Weekly reconciliation of physical cash banked to POS reports.
· Weekly recon of unit P&L to the PRJ report.
· Preparation of monthly unit P&L and reporting on variances to budget and anomalies in unit finances.
· Assisting with new unit mobilization and finance training for new managers.
· Should a contract close, this role will assist with the demobilization requirement.
· Maintenance of the balance sheet accounts on this portfolio.
· Preparation of monthly balance sheet recons and communication of risk on the balance sheet.
Internal Audit:
· Enforcing existing internal control within the Units and company administration policies and procedures.
· Performing on-site stock & cash audits at unit level (this will cover various geographical regions).
· Audit findings and recommendations to be compiled in a report to be submitted to your line manager and operations for review.
Team Supervision:
· This role will oversee the Unit Controllers and manage their output.
· Final review of each Unit Controllers P&L to ensure accuracy and completeness.
· Ensure the team adheres to and meets all deadlines.
· Allocation of tasks to the Unit Controllers.
· Scheduling Unit Controllers on audits for the financial year.
· Processing of national costs to the units P&L.
· Maintaining and reviewing Unit Controllers finance trackers to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
· Review and report on Unit Balance Sheet to the Financial Manager.
Support Function:
· Assisting the Finance Manager and Ops Managers in preparing Budgets.
· Identifying, understanding, and solving queries on financial reports.
· Leading financial reviews with Operations.
· Any other accounting / administration issues.
· Assisting the CFO and/or Finance Manager with any tasks that may be requested of you.
· Working with the Finance Manager in designing/monitoring a system to enable the Unit financial information to be received more timeously and accurately.
· Assist Operations in understanding and producing accurate results.
· Working with Finance Manager, to introduce an audit and training role for the unit managers to improve efficiency in the units.
· Ensuring the Company’s accounting and administration deadlines applicable to your responsibilities are consistently met.
· To alert the CFO / Finance Manager of any financial irregularity at a unit.
· Any other duties that the person(s) you report to may request you to conduct.
Skills Required:
· B.comm Account or similar finance qualification will be beneficial
· Must be in a similar role for 3-5 years
· Proficient in Excel
· Exercise time-management
· Experience in team management will be beneficial
· Analytical thinker
