We are looking for a dynamic and driven General Manager (GM) to lead a fast-paced café-style restaurant. If you're passionate about food, coffee, people, and performance – this is your chance to take charge, inspire a team, and drive operational excellence.
What You'll Do:
As the General Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the store with a strong focus on efficiency, profitability, and delivering exceptional service. You’ll work closely with your team, setting the standard, and ensuring every customer has a memorable experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Food & Beverage Operations:
- Confident knowledge of the full food and beverage menu.
- Beverage training across all areas.
- Basic kitchen management, including reading recipes, food preparation, and service execution.
- Handle ordering and stock management for daily and weekly needs (bread, cake, fresh produce, bar, and kitchen stock).
- Maintain strong stock quality standards and supplier relationships.
- Use of GAAP or similar systems for invoice capturing, reports, daily cash-ups, and stock-takes.
Team Leadership:
- Manage staff rosters and ensure time management across all shifts.
- Problem-solve during staff shortages.
- Motivate, train, and lead floor staff by example.
- Step into any role on the floor when required.
Customer Experience:
- Promote the company’s values, service culture, and attention to detail.
- Drive customer satisfaction through proactive service management.
- Handle complaints with professionalism and build guest loyalty.
- Anticipate service challenges and resolve issues swiftly.
Performance Metrics:
- Operational Excellence: Ensure smooth day-to-day operations and maintain a clean, well-organized, and welcoming environment during all store visits.
- Service Quality: Deliver consistently high service standards and experiences that impress both customers and mystery shoppers.
- Team Efficiency: Keep staffing levels optimized while managing labour costs responsibly to maintain profitability without sacrificing service.
- Customer Satisfaction: Foster a culture that drives positive reviews and high customer ratings across platforms like Google.
- Cost Management: Monitor and manage food and beverage costs carefully to support healthy profit margins.
What You’ll Need:
- Previous experience in a management or assistant GM role in hospitality or food service.
- Solid knowledge of food and beverage operations.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Hands-on, energetic, and solutions-focused approach.
