Job Description: General Manager
Location: Cape Town & Johannesburg (National Oversight)

Reports to: Director / Owner
Job Summary:
As the General Manager of The Wedding Boutique, you are responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of both boutique locations in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
You will lead the team, manage resources efficiently, and ensure the seamless execution of business operations to deliver a consistently exceptional bridal shopping experience.
Your role is to ensure every department functions at its best—from sales and service, to operations, stock, alterations, staff development, and performance.
You will be a strong leader, strategic thinker and results-driven operator, who takes full accountability for store performance and team success.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations across both boutiques, ensuring consistency, efficiency and excellence in customer experience.
- Manage the boutique environment, ensuring each location maintains high standards in cleanliness, organisation, and visual appeal.
- Monitor and oversee all boutique systems and processes including appointments, cash-up, data recording, and client tracking.
Team Leadership & Staff Management
- Lead, motivate, and support all team members including Sales Consultants and the Alterations team.
- Conduct regular team meetings to align staff with business goals, updates and client service expectations.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding and training new staff.
- Monitor staff performance, conduct reviews and foster a high-performance culture.
- Ensure team accountability through pipeline reviews, lead tracking and weekly check-ins.
Sales & Client Experience
- Set, monitor and exceed sales targets across both stores.
- Support the team in executing sales strategies and upselling opportunities to increase transaction value.
- Ensure a consistently high standard of client service throughout the customer journey.
- Step in for consultations when necessary to assist during peak times or support new clients.
- Monitor client payments and assist in resolving any payment or service issues efficiently and professionally.
Inventory & Stock Management
- Oversee stocktake procedures and inventory levels at both stores.
- Coordinate all stock ordering, receiving and recording of new orders, both for store inventory and client-specific purchases.
- Monitor stock performance and collaborate with buyers or suppliers as needed.
Financial Oversight
- Manage budgets, ensuring operational and financial targets are met.
- Analyse monthly and quarterly financial reports to identify areas to reduce costs and increase profitability.
- Track revenue and ensure daily cash-ups and transaction reporting are accurate and up-to-date.
Marketing & Brand Engagement
- Collaborate with marketing teams or take initiative in executing boutique-level campaigns and promotions.
- Assist in the planning and execution of Sale Days, special events and in-store promotions.
- Monitor and respond to customer feedback and online reviews to uphold the brand’s reputation.
Administration & Systems
- Maintain accurate and organised digital records using Google Drive, Excel spreadsheets and boutique-specific software.
- Ensure the 5-Ways Lead Tracker and Revenue Tracker are completed accurately and regularly.
- Maintain operational documentation, SOPs and reporting systems for easy access and compliance.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time leadership role with flexible hours required, including weekends and occasional public holidays.
- Travel between Cape Town and Johannesburg stores will be required.
- Hands-on involvement during peak trading periods, bridal expos, and major events.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in multi-store retail management or senior store leadership, ideally within fashion, bridal, or boutique sectors.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of building high-performing teams.
- Excellent understanding of sales strategy, client relationship management and boutique retail operations.
- Sound financial acumen with experience in budgeting, reporting and performance analysis.
- Proficient in Excel, Google Suite, POS systems and CRM tools.
- Highly organised, with exceptional attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Pay: R400 000,00 - R600 000,00 per year
