Job Summary
The Group Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team manages group-wide integrated planning and management reporting processes to support financial decision-making at a Group Exco and at a Board level for the Absa Group.The Group Head of Reporting will oversee the Reporting team and provide strategic support to the Group Head of FP&A. This pivotal role entails leading the coordination and review of the team's regular deliverables, ensuring alignment with the Group Exco and the broader Finance function.
The incumbent will offer critical financial reporting advice and insights, operating within a tightly controlled reporting environment to drive departmental efficiency.
Furthermore, the role involves active participation in projects aimed at enhancing the Finance function and providing robust support to the Head of Group Financial Decision Support and Financial Resource Management.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Leadership and Technical Acumen:
Lead the Reporting team in the preparation, consolidation, and review of their regular deliverables.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of reporting to support financial decision-making by analysing performance trends, providing meaningful insights, and offering objective commentary on key emerging themes.
Mentor and manage the performance of team members (4 direct reports) while fostering a collaborative and positive teamwork ethos.
Collaboration:
Partner closely with Financial Control to ensure accuracy during month-end and interim reporting periods, delivering precise business performance messaging.
Coordinate with various teams across the Group and Business Unit Finance functions to perform complex analyses and prepare senior management and Board-level reports, as well as support external ad hoc requests.
Assist the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in the coordination and control of systems and processes that support management reporting.
Collaborate with other members of FP&A Manco (Planning, Tech Enablement, and Change) to deliver Group-wide Finance processes.
Performance Cost Management:
Work with Group Reward on the financial aspects of incentives for both actuals and forecast periods.
Drive the Balanced Scorecard Reporting process (both defining scorecards and tracking outcomes).
Ensure that the models used in the calibration of STI and LTI outcomes for the Group are accurate and reflective of performance outcomes.
Innovation:
Propose and implement enhancements to existing reporting content and analysis to better inform financial decision-making.
Drive automation and standardisation of reporting processes to improve productivity.
Role / Person Specification
Education and Experience:
Post Graduate Degree (NQF level no.8+)
CA (SA) or CIMA
10+ years professional financial management experience
5+ years Banking Experience, engaging at an Executive Level
3+ years managing a team
Experience of accounting and related internal control processes
Experience in Financial Management, Strategic Planning, governance processes and reporting
