Purpose of the role
The HRBP role is the human partner to the business, providing strategic direction to the business to enable employee engagement across all areas of the business.
Main responsibilities:
Recruitment
To drive the recruitment process from start to finish, including placing recruitment advertisements to attract suitable candidates for vacancies, analyzing CV’s of job applicants, interviewing candidates, providing feedback to unsuccessful candidates, doing reference checks and coordinating offers and contracts of employment.
To manage and advise on the legal and industrial relations implications of employment contracts.
To explore and apply cost effective and alternative methods of recruitment such as career junction/University notice boards and referrals.
To manage and control 3rd party placements and monitor permanent employment requirements.
To maintain an accurate recruitment database, while organizing all placement fees with consultants and maintaining contact with external consultants.
To drive the recruitment and selection of graduates and bursary applicants and to make all the necessary arrangements during the process.
To actively promote the principles of employment equity whilst applying affirmative action measures in recruitment and selection procedures.
Performance management
To assist with the education of employees on the use and application of the organisation’s performance management system.
To assist with the maintenance of the performance appraisal system and to encourage the timely completion of Performance Appraisals.
Business Partner
Provide HR and IR guidance to line managers
Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues
Work in conjunction with line managers to develop performance management guidance eg: coaching, counseling, disciplinary action etc
Training and Development
To assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of an Induction programme to ensure that all employees remain abreast of the organization's internal structures, management, objectives, policies and procedures.
Perform SDF functions, submission of WSP/ATR
Liaise with the SETA to ensure grants are received, discretionary grant payments are received timeously
Content development and facilitation
Project manage external projects - learnership's, Internships and hosting of learners
Ensure E-learning system is kept up to date
Liaise with training external business partners
To assist with training and development arrangements as and when required.
Payroll
Administer payroll admin
Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) and Employee Wellbeing
To promote safe working practices within the organization.
To remain up to date on staff welfare issues and provide support as and when necessary.
Other Human Resources Responsibilities/Projects
To assist with Human Resources projects as and when required.
To assist in driving the organization's principles of responsibility.
To assist in driving the WMIP Campaign and provide feedback on the results.
To assist with the Human Resources business review as and when required.
To assist with the development of Human Resources policies & procedures as and when required.
Profile
The successful candidate should have the following skills, experience and attributes:
Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Industrial Psychology or related field
Operational/Retail experience preferred
Skills Development Facilitator qualification highly preferred
Assessor and Moderator qualifications highly preferred
Have high levels of integrity and ethical standards
Is able to apply sound judgment in complex and ambiguous matters
Have the ability to communicate confidently and effectively across all levels
Have leadership skills with proven ability in problem solving
Be a confident, self-motivated professional who uses own initiative
Be able to stand up to and challenge decisions when required
