Job Advert Summary
To support the Head: Capital & Balance Sheet Management to delegate his/her duties with regard to capital management, investment management, adequacy of reinsurance programs, solvency reporting, and statutory reporting. The role will focus on Capital & Balance Sheet Management activities of PPS?Insurance Company, PPS?Insurance Namibia, and the PPS Group through knowledge of Life Insurance valuations.
The role will have interaction with other teams within the Actuarial Services department, as well as with other departments within the PPS Group, interact with the Head of Actuarial Function’s team and the Group’s external auditors.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Matric
- Completed University Degree majoring in Actuarial Science, honours is preferable
- Making good progress with actuarial exams, with preferably most of the A1 and A2 subjects completed.
Experience:
- No experience required but knowledge of ORSA, SAM and Economic Capital would be preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of MS Office with strong Excel skills required.
- Computer literate. Access and SQL skills would be of benefit.
- Use and knowledge of Prophet and DCS would be of benefit

Duties and Responsibilities
- Development of actuarial models for existing and future business, and the implementation of these on the Prophet and other relevant system.
- Conducting regular actuarial investigations, including asset liability matching investigations. Assisting the valuations team with sickness and mortality investigation will also be required.
- Regular development of solvency calculation models to ensure they are in line regulatory and business requirements.
- Providing support with compilation of and regulatory reporting related to the ORSA
- Assistance with completion of annual returns.
- Providing actuarial support to various other areas, and the broader business.
- Alignment of PPS Actuarial functions with published ASSA guidance notes, and other regulatory requirements.
