Role Overview
Reporting to the IT Manager, you will keep our infrastructure secure, available and scalable. One day you might patch cloud servers; the next you’ll trace a VLAN issue or retrieve call recordings for our QA team. This is a fast-track position for an early-career technologist who loves troubleshooting and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Server & System Administration
- Maintain on-prem and Azure servers, perform upgrades, patching and health checks.
- Manage file shares, access permissions and storage quotas.
Network Administration
- Optimise LAN/WAN performance, configure switches and VLANs.
- Allocate IPs, manage DHCP/DNS services, cabling and internet fail-over links.
PBX & Telephony Management
- Administer the Fox5/Euphoria PBX (queues, extensions, call recordings).
- Support QA and Team Leaders with call-related troubleshooting.
Cybersecurity & Data Protection
- Monitor firewall traffic and adjust Fortinet policies.
- Enforce MFA and password standards; manage AVG Business Edition endpoints.
- Detect, report and mitigate spam/phishing attempts.
Remote Access & VPN
- Provision and support secure VPN tunnels for off-site staff.
User & Device Management
- Onboard/offboard Microsoft 365 users, deploy laptops and ensure OneDrive compliance.
- Maintain an accurate asset register (devices, licences, accessories).
IT Procurement & Vendor Liaison
- Source hardware/software quotes, raise requisitions and verify deliveries.
- Schedule site visits for UPS, networking and boardroom installations.
Admin & Reporting
- Produce weekly/monthly performance reports for EXCO.
- Document SOPs and track open support tickets to closure.
Projects & Strategic Initiatives
- Assist with tenant migrations, infrastructure revamps, call-centre roll-outs and audits.
- Provide risk and compliance insights to EXCO.
What You’ll Need
- National Diploma (or higher) in IT, Computer Systems, or similar.
- 1–2 years’ practical experience with Windows Server, Microsoft 365 and basic networking (internships count).
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP/DNS, VPN and firewall concepts.
- Exposure to Azure, Fortinet, or Euphoria/3CX is advantageous.
- Strong documentation habits and a passion for root-cause problem-solving.
- South African citizenship or valid work authorisation.
