Job Description
You will form part of RMM within the Mass Foundation Cluster which is one of the largest customer-facing business segments in Old Mutual. Our target market is the low and emerging-middle income segment.This role is accountable for execution, governance and compliance at an operational level. In this role you will be accountable for achieving results through the efforts of others.
Accounting Records
Ensures that the financial accounting transactions are accurately reflected in the business unit ledgers.
Financial Control
Creates a healthy internal control environment to ensure integrity of financial information.
Effects ongoing changes to internal controls as necessitated by changes in business and corporate governance.
Monitors and reports on status of all control accounts in the business unit.
Financial Reporting
Prepares monthly financial reports for management, including a high-level variance report (based on analysis and trending performed) by agreed deadline.
Produces ongoing and ad-hoc reporting based on requirements from business units, central finance, and other mutual stakeholders.
Drives and collates monthly submission consisting of report and commentary by agreed deadline.
Prepares monthly and annual cash flow forecasting.
Manages reporting requirements for the business unit.
Governance & Compliance
Accountable for governance and compliance at an operational level.
Ensures the effectiveness and appropriateness of the accounting processes utilised to fulfill the needs of the business.
Technical assessments to be done on IFRS applications that are applicable to the business unit.
Provides advice on accounting policies and practices to senior and middle management.
Team Effectiveness
Balances own priorities.
Creates a climate for optimal performance.
Effective collaboration with team members.
Regulatory reporting
Assist Compliance with any ad-hoc reports required for regulatory visits.
Other
Preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budgeting reports.
Review and approval of month-end reconciliations.
Requirements:
Qualified CA (non-negotiable).
1+ years’ finance/post articles experience /strong newly qualified CA.
Experience in reconciliation and resolving of control account issues by working closely with Admin areas.
Able to work with large data (Microsoft Access and Excel).
Project management for internal BAU initiatives.
Accounting design (including functional and user acceptance testing).
Deadline driven.
Ability to work across multiple functions to ensure deliverables are met.
Strong IFRS Technical and Analytical skills.
Able to analyze complex financial information and provide insights on the drivers for the results.
