Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and honours (NQF 7-8) in hospitality/business management or equivalent degree.
- At least 5 years experience in hospitality/ business management and administration (experience at the University or tertiary educational sector will be an advantage).
- Minimum two years experience in project planning and reporting.
- Previous experience in science outreach activities and communications, or educational/museum/science center experience will be an advantage.
Skills requirements:
- High level of administrative proficiency with respect to personnel and infrastructure management.
- High level of competency in project and hospitality management, especially in terms of activity management.
- Customer relations and stakeholder management.
- High level computer literacy with respect to MS Office 365 (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access and business systems).
- Proficiency in English and preferably other local languages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in communication, including digital communication, technology such as websites, newsletters, policy briefs, and infographics.
- Considerable communication and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership skills and abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Job description: The primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Plan strategic business initiatives in collaboration with the Head of the Digital Dome including:
- Embedding an entrepreneurial business model.
- Initiating new business initiatives to drive sustainability.
- Consolidated Marketing Approach to drive repeat visits, build stakeholder relationships and increase on site events.
- Deputise for the Head for operational purposes in their absence.
- Compile and execute the operational business plan and reporting to the Head and stakeholders.
- Manage operational processes central to an excellent customer experience including:
- Public visitor scheduling and bookings.
- School group scheduling and related functions.
- Private bookings and functions (including costings).
- Public shows and corporate events out of regular working hours.
- Science outreach projects.
- Manage operational personnel, staff scheduling and staff development at the Digital Dome in collaboration with Wits Faculty of Science Human Resources Division.
- Manage maintenance staff to ensure the upkeep of the property and the infrastructure.
- Act as direct liaison with Wits Central with respect to ICT, Security and Services, Infrastructure and Development, Communications and Marketing where relevant.
- Provide customer support on site where challenges are encountered.
- Supervise maintenance, security, facilities management, website, resources.
- Assist Head to align research bodies.
