This role is based in Rustenburg at the Precious Metals Refinery
Job Description
The Patrolperson will be responsible for the application of routine security procedures within the Valterra to ensure that employees and assets are protected and will also include emergency prevention duties.
Personal risk could be a factor in the role due to the need to identify and take action on incidents involving breaches of security.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
- Following work instructions
- Ensure proper understanding of the required actions
- Apply recognized work and security standards
- Conduct allocated patrols or checkpoint duties
- Patrol on foot by bicycle or vehicle as applicable
- Gather information that could support risk management
- Respond to alarms and take appropriate action
- Monitor performance and enforce access controls
- Support risk management
- Ensure that security tasks are completed to required quality standards
- When a security issue is observed take appropriate action within procedures
- Effectively use allocated equipment such as radios and telephones
- Identify and report all irregularities to supervisor
- Effective two-way communications with team members and visitors
- Promote security awareness by reminding team members to follow work procedures and identifying problems with work practices
- Maintains facilities, equipment and personal image up to a high standard of presentation
- Participate in required meetings including safety, health, environment in initiatives
- To arrest all transgressors within the law
- Attend disciplinary enquiries as a witness/complainant
Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Registered with the PSIRA on grade D
- Psychometric Assessment for firearm users
- No criminal record
- Pass polygraph test
Experience
- Experience as a patrolperson or equivalent will be an advantage
Knowledge and Skills
- Good communication skills
- Handling of various emergency situations
