Reach Truck Driver

Job Summary:

The Reach Truck Operator is responsible for operating a reach truck to move, locate, relocate, and stack pallets in the warehouse. The operator will ensure the efficient and safe operation of the reach truck while adhering to safety standards and warehouse procedures

The Reach Truck Operator is responsible for operating a reach truck to move, locate, relocate, and stack pallets in the warehouse. The operator will ensure the efficient and safe operation of the reach truck while adhering to safety standards and warehouse procedures

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily Reach Truck Operations:
  • Safely operate reach trucks to load and unload materials from warehouse racking.
  • Safely navigate the warehouse to transport goods to designated areas.
  • Ensure proper handling of pallets to prevent damage and maintain quality.
  • Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies to the supervisor team.
  • Assist in inventory tracking by scanning and recording pallet movements using warehouse management systems (WMS).

• 
  Quality Control & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Conduct and complete daily inspections and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
  • Ensure doors to the cold storage remain closed when not in use to maintain temperature integrity.

  Team Collaboration:
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff, quality control teams, and drivers to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:
  • Matric or equivalent required.
  • Relevant certifications (Reach Truck Certification)

• 
  Experience:
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of operating experience, preferably in a warehousing environment.
  • Experience in the warehouse and logistics industry is preferred.

• 
  Skills & Competencies:
  • Previous experience operating a reach truck in a warehouse environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to operate warehouse management systems (WMS) or scanners.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Being able to communicate clearly with others is essential for maintaining a safe work environment
  • Being able to follow instructions accurately and in a timely manner is important
  • Basic math skills for inventory management
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and peripheral vision
  • Efficient individual with excellent time management skills

Working Conditions

• Ability to perform manual labour and work with heavy equipment.
• Some flexibility in working hours will be needed to accommodate the nature of the contract logistics industry.
